A Tactical Guide to Rebellion. Rijeka, Croatia 2018
CKM was invited to talk the 2018 European Architecture Students Assembly and share his experience of establishing the Architecture Students Network.
The talk was an opportunity to reflect on a decade of projects, to pull them apart, and provide solid advise on self initiated projects.
The world is only changed by acts of rebellions, however mild. In this talk Christopher Maloney will explode the theory around rebellious projects and provide a do’s and don’t’s guide to being the change you want to see in the world. Drawing on examples as diverse as 00Architecture, Jan Gehl, and the Swedish Pirate Party Chris will take you on a whirlwind historical trip from the origins of EASA to the current post-postmodern context of perpetual change in the age of information. Along the way you will pick up hints and tips from hard earned experience, all underpinned by a healthy dose of Speculative Realist theory.
Participants Guide
Following on from the lecture CKM delivered a two hour drop in masterclass on Facilitating Rebellion. The workshop delved further into the theories explored in the talk, expanding them with reference to branding, disruption, and 70’s punk. Participants were guided through practical exercises to translate the theory and apply it to their own objectives, the goal being to leave the session with a personalised action plan.
